Although they trail leaders Maesglas by four points Lampeter remain the only unbeaten side in the Costcutter Ceredigion League First Division following their well-worked away win at Aberporth.
In an entertaining game the visitors took the lead after ten minutes when Dai Morgan turned in a James Gudgeon cross following a break down the middle. Liam Griffiths pulled the home side back on level terms within five minutes before Jason Davies restored Lampeter’s lead six minutes from the interval.
The second period proved to be equally exciting. Osian Williams headed home his side’s third and after Martin Smith had pulled back another goal Mark Wilkins wrapped it up following further good work by James Gudgeon.
Maesglas registered their fifth win from six starts with an emphatic victory at Ffostrasol. Three first half goals from Phil Furney, Huw Meredith and Dean Winney led the way while a second for Meredith and a Llifon Hughes effort sealed the victory after the interval.
New Quay consolidated their second place spot with an excellent win at St Dogmaels. An early strike from front-runner Lee Burrows gave the Saints an early lead but goals from Mathew Mousley and Bryn Evans clinched another three points for the visitors.
Despite missing a number of first team regulars Cardigan notched a solid win against Dewi Stars with both Peter Edwards and Alun Williams striking twice.
The clash between Aberaeron and Crannog turned out to be a rather dour affair with very little to chose between the two sides. After the heroics of keeper Eirian Morgan had kept the visitors in the game with a couple of excellent early saves they grabbed the points courtesy of a Danny Taylor tap-in late on in the game.
There were goals galore at Llandysul with Llanybydder netting seven to clinch a good win. Calvin Jones led the way with a hat-trick and there was one each for Dorian Jones, Louis Evans, Stephen Lovell and Dai Williams.
In the Second Division there were victories for Aberaeron Reserves, Bargod and Llanboidy whilst the points were shared at both Lampeter Reserves and Maesglas Reserves. |
